Madrid Marathon 2025

Madrid is a city that loves sport, and one of the most popular activities is running, with plenty of events for runners to enjoy throughout the year.

The Madrid Marathon is undoubtedly the most eagerly awaited event for both professional and amateur runners. The 42-kilometre challenge is not within everyone’s reach, but the 45,000 runners who take part each year are part of an unforgettable experience…

As part of the Rock’n’Roll Marathon circuit, the Madrid Marathon is one of the most special in the world, with concerts and performances along the entire route to cheer on the brave runners.

When is the 2025 Madrid Marathon?

The 47th Madrid Marathon will take place on Sunday 27 April 2025. The race will start at 9.00 am.

As in previous years, the Runner’s Fair will take place alongside the event, running from Friday 25 to Saturday 26 April, from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm. This is where you can collect your race numbers for the Madrid Marathon.

Madrid Marathon Route

The stunning route of the Madrid Marathon is a favourite among many runners. Its varied route, which takes in different neighbourhoods of the city, allows runners to enjoy Madrid’s most iconic buildings.

The race starts at Plaza de Gregorio Marañón, right in the heart of the city, and heads towards the Bernabéu Stadium. The route continues through areas such as the Cuatro Torres, the Salamanca district, Plaza de Callao, Puerta del Sol, the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral. Finally, you’ll run through Madrid’s art triangle, passing the Prado Museum and the Reina Sofía Museum, until you reach the Paseo de Recoletos, where the finish line is located.

What’s more, the route is one big party, with over 30 cheering points spread along the 42km course, providing the best possible encouragement for the participants.

And for those who won’t be taking part in the race, there are other ways to get involved. On the day, thousands of spectators will take to the streets to cheer on the runners and join in the festivities.
