Norman Foster Foundation, Madrid

Possibly one of the best-known contemporary architects in the world, the British architect Sir Norman Foster, whose work is renowned for its technological innovation, is married to Elena Ochoa, a prominent figure in Spanish television.
This is one of the reasons why the foundation is located on the grounds of the Duke of Plasencia’s mansion in Madrid’s Almagro district (across the Paseo de la Castellana from the hotel). The pavilion building houses its library and an exhibition space, and serves as a research centre for the integration of technology with architecture and urban design. In its architectural expression, the glass and steel create a perfect contrast with the neoclassical style of the surrounding buildings.
