The Balearic Islands are home to places steeped in history and legend, where one can imagine what life was like in times gone by and how people used to live. Archaeological remains and prehistoric structures from the renowned Bronze Age are the features of these places that define the authentic character of Mallorca.

The Bronze Age consists mainly of two phases: the Pre-Talayotic Period (2000–1300 BC) and the Talayotic Period (1300–123 BC). The former is characterised by the use of caves by the island’s earliest settlers. In Mallorca, caves from this period can be found in the vicinity of Alcúdia. Unfortunately, most of these are no longer preserved, but there are still some that can be visited: La Cova se S’Hort de la Rectoria and two of the three caves that made up the La Solada complex, where the Roman Theatre can also be found.

We invite you to discover, through these archaeological features, the details that characterised the people of that era, how pottery styles evolved, how bronze was introduced, and how a social hierarchy developed. Finca Serena offers the perfect setting for exploring the origins of civilisation in the Mediterranean.

The Talayotic period saw the emergence of a distinctive type of structure, examples of which can be found near the hotel: the circular or square talaiot. The importance of these structures is highlighted by the circular talaiots at Son Simó, Oriolet and Sa Figuera Roja, as well as the square talaiot at Son Siurana de Dalt.
