What to do in Palma de Mallorca during winter
There are plenty of things to do in Palma during the off-season. Make the most of the absence of crowds to visit the city’s museums and art galleries or sit down for refreshments on a terrace.
If you visit the city on February 2, you can see the Spectacle of the Eight at Mallorca Cathedral. This phenomenon only happens twice a year when the sunlight crosses the main rose window of the building and its reflection is projected onto the opposite wall, creating a perfect eight for 5 minutes.
You can also go on a shopping tour of Mallorca and shop in the local boutiques and artisans. A few kilometres from the centre you can visit Bellver Castle, a circular fortress dating from the 14th century. For the more adventurous, Palma’s beach is ideal for water sports such as windsurfing and paddle surfing in winter.
Go for a hike
Winter is the best time for hiking in Mallorca. There are all kinds of routes on the island, suitable for both experienced hikers and beginners, where you can discover the Mediterranean landscapes and pass through historic villages.
