Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida, the Valencian painter who best captured the unique light of the Mediterranean on canvas, lived and worked here until his death in 1923.
The house that Sorolla commissioned during his lifetime from the architect Enrique María de Repullés y Vargas was turned into a museum dedicated to his work following the death of his widow. The original furniture in the main living rooms and his painting studio has been preserved, along with the garden where he painted many of his works. This museum, located in the city centre, offers an intimate portrait of both the man and the artist, who specialised in portraits and landscapes.
