Located in one of the most picturesque villages on the Costa Brava, the Compartir restaurant opened in 2012 under the direction of Mateu Casañas, Oriol Castro and Eduard Xatruch, who also run the Disfrutar and Compartir restaurants in Barcelona.
Highlights of the menu naturally include the traditional rice dishes typical of the Costa Brava, featuring ingredients from both the sea and the mountains, as well as a varied selection of modern Mediterranean tapas to share and enjoy with your dining companions. Mas de Torrent Restaurant (Torrent)
Located in the 5-star Mas de Torrent hotel, this restaurant, run by chef Ramón Freixa, offers a luxurious dining experience centred on seasonal produce from both the sea and the mountains.

Fiego Restaurant (Calella de Palafrugell)
El Fiego is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants specialising in rice dishes on the Costa Brava. Made with the Nembo variety, grown in the fields of Pals, their delicious rice dishes are based on a traditional house-made sofrito and a fish stock prepared daily using fresh fish.
The menu features mixed paellas, fish and lobster paellas, vegetable paellas, rice in broth and black rice with squid ink, all at a very reasonable price of around €20. Toc al Mar (Begur)
Another of the most famous places to eat paella on the Costa Brava, Toc al Mar is surprising at first glance: a traditional beach bar with metal chairs right on Aiguablava beach. But you only need to try their rice dishes to realise that this restaurant’s popularity is no fluke.
Toc al Mar specialises in seafood rice dishes finished off in an oak wood-fired oven, made with the finest fresh fish and seafood supplied daily by local fishermen. Don’t forget to book, as places fill up fast, especially in summer!
Ca L’Herminda (Port de la Selva)
Since opening in 1963, Ca l’Herminda has retained the spirit of a quintessential seafood restaurant and has become a culinary institution in the Alt Empordà.
Very cosy and offering fantastic sea views, the restaurant’s signature dishes are the lobster rice stew and the traditional seafood paella, both made with fresh produce from their own fish farms. Also worth noting are their selection of tapas and homemade desserts – the perfect way to round off a delicious rice dish from the Costa Brava.
