Shopping in the Salamanca district
If you’re staying in Madrid and you love shopping, don’t miss one of the city’s most exclusive areas, the Salamanca district, where luxury and exclusivity are in the air on every corner.
A shopping trip through the Salamanca district is a wonderful opportunity to visit some of the most prestigious national and international brands. Its streets are also lined with traditional shops, homeware stores, accessory boutiques and even more affordable fashion options.
The best shopping streets in the Salamanca district
If there’s one shopping street in the Salamanca district that you simply mustn’t miss, it’s the iconic Calle Serrano. Here you’ll find some of the world’s most luxurious shops and brands, such as Liu Jo, Versace, Carolina Herrera, Prada, Rabat, Kenzo, Loewe, Armani and Gucci. This is undoubtedly the most glamorous street in Madrid, and an essential stop in the Salamanca district.
Other streets worth visiting in the area include Calle de Ortega y Gasset, where you’ll find the legendary Tiffany & Co. jewellery store, as well as Dior, Valentino and Chanel, amongst many other brands. On the street running parallel to Serrano, Calle de Claudio Coello, you’ll find Weekend, Max Mara, COS and Christian Louboutin; whilst Balenciaga is located on Calle de Lagasca.
Luxury fashion and accessories
The streets of the Salamanca district are full of shops selling women’s and men’s clothing. Here you’ll find an outfit for any occasion, with plenty of modern options to keep you looking on-trend. Serrano is a paradise for fashion lovers, as alongside the big brands there are small designer boutiques where you can buy unique pieces.
Exclusivity for the home
If you’re interested in interior design, there are plenty of furniture and homeware shops in the Salamanca district that are well worth a visit. Kave Home, Cassina, Aneko, Sandra Marcos, Guaimaro, Gastón y Daniela, Chic & Soul, Maisons du Monde… there’s something to suit every taste and budget. Nordic or classic furniture, unique designs, contemporary textiles and accessories, and much more!
Goya: the budget option
Right in the heart of Salamanca, there is a street that offers a break from the high prices of Serrano: Calle de Goya, where you’ll find some of the most famous international budget fashion brands, as well as exclusive yet affordable boutiques.
Japanese brands MUJI and Uniqlo, the jewellery shop Apodemia, the cosmetics store l’Occitane en Provence, Sephora and Michael Kors are some of the most popular shops in Goya. You’ll also find leading Spanish clothing brands such as Zara and Mango.
